Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
With this support, Global Integrity would continue to produce the Global Integrity Report, and Africa Integrity Indicators, disseminating information about how countries are performing on measures to improve governance and transparency. This support would also contribute to their work on using technology to support research on issues related to corruption, open government and open data in both their Washington, D.C., and South African offices. They would also continue to coordinate the operations of the Open Government Hub, a working space in D.C. that is home to twenty-eight organizations working on issues related to improving government transparency and accountability.
for a project to establish standards for political finance transparency
Through this grant, Global Integrity, along with partner organizations, would work to develop a set of internationally shared best practices for the way governments can publish information about political finance. Currently there are no standards for information about how campaigns are financed that are freely available to citizens throughout the electoral process. This initiative seeks to set a minimum baseline for political finance transparency, and encourage the adoption of these standards in countries with political systems to which such standards might apply.
for the videoconferencing project
This grant would provide videoconferencing equipment to Global Integrity to help equip the newly expanded Open Government Hub, a shared office space in DC for organizations working on similar issues around transparency and technology. As all of the organizations engaged in the space do considerable international work, ensuring quality videoconferencing systems can greatly reduce travel and improve connectivity with partners around the world.
