In a context of deepening political polarization, Fundar works with diverse coalitions to advance concrete governance reforms such as closing tax loopholes and increasing the regulation of political advertising. Fundar is uniquely positioned to work in partnership with rural, grassroots activists while influencing the priorities of Mexico City’s political elite. Fundar researches the implications of a likely post-electoral fiscal reform, continues its policy monitoring, and facilitates peer learning about civil rights and civic space in Mexico and Central America. for the development of Mexico's Open Government action plan
This grant would support broadening civil society participation the development of Mexico's second Open Government Partnership action plan. Through the development of workshops to craft specific commitments for nine sectors related to public spending and government transparency, civil society experts from Mexico City and across the country would contribute to improving the potential impact of Mexico's open government commitments.

Fundar will continue its work on transparency and accountability through tracking and analyzing Mexico’s social development budgets. Fundar has contributed to pro-transparency reforms in Mexico, and has collaborated with numerous other grantees to improve accountability over public spending for the poor. This grant will contribute to further deepening Fundar’s transparency and accountability work, and support their institutional capacity-building efforts over the next two years.
