Grants to this Grantee
for the East Bay Fund for Artists
The East Bay Community Foundation supports fair and equitable opportunities and outcomes for residents of the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Its pooled fund and regranting programs support individuals and communities experiencing low incomes and other disadvantages, including the East Bay Fund for Artists. Each year, this fund provides 15 to 40 grants to composers, playwrights, choreographers, and visual and media artists to commission new works that promote racial and social justice. This grant for the East Bay Fund for Artists advances the Performing Arts Program’s Artists strategy.
for the East Bay Fund for Artists
With this funding, the East Bay Community Foundation would independently continue the work of the Fund for Artists, previously a Hewlett Foundation supported collaboration that included the San Francisco Foundation and the Marin Community Foundation. The goal of this regranting program is to build individual donor capacity and bring new resources to artists for commissions, fellowships, and residencies. To date, the Fund for Artists has leveraged more than $600,000 in gifts from 3,000 individual donors. The East Bay Community Foundation will continue on its own to provide an important and strategic source of support for individual artists in a challenging economic environment.
