Overview
We recommend a project grant to Earthworks, an organization dedicated to protecting communities and the environment from the impacts of mining and drilling in the United States The objective of the grant is to identify new potential policy opportunities to regulate tight oil production, specifically its fugitive methane emissions, in the Eagle Ford, Bakken and Monterey shales, in Texas, North Dakota and California, respectively.

With this renewed support, Earthworks would concentrate in North Dakota, Montana, Texas, and California to identify opportunities; educate; and advocate for regulations and policies to reduce the health impacts from unconventional oil development on communities and environmental impacts on water, land, and air.
