Overview
Bay Area Wilderness Training, a program fiscally sponsored by Earth Island, provides low-income, at-risk urban youth with the skills and resources necessary for camping and wilderness experiences. They work with youth workers and teachers in after-school programs, school districts, community centers, and a wide array of social service agencies to reach youth from different neighborhoods and cultural and economic backgrounds. Their programs will get more than 8,000 youth outdoors.

A fiscally sponsored project of Earth Island Institute, PGM ONE envisions a world that centers, values, uplifts, and empowers those who are most impacted by environmental harm and climate change — and in particular Black, Indigenous, and people of color/the global majority. The project, which engages with advocates from across the field of land and water conservation, is offering online programming and an annual summit to share, learn, collaborate, heal, celebrate, build community, find support, and deepen practice to uproot the systems of oppression and mobilize to transform individuals, movements, and society. The project, which engages with advocates from across the field of land and water conservation, is conducting a strategic planning exercise and launching an evaluation of its impact. It is also working to offer webinars and online conversations this year in place of its annual summit to share, learn, collaborate, heal, celebrate, build community, find support, and deepen practice to uproot the systems of oppression and mobilize to transform individuals, movements, and society.
