Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung

For Support To Strengthen Youth Advocacy Leadership In East Africa

Overview
This grant will support Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung (DSW) to work with civil society organizations in Kenya and Tanzania to implement effective and coordinated advocacy on family planning and reproductive health. To build on its existing expertise on youth empowerment issues in East Africa, DSW will prioritize working with organizations led by, or focused on, youth. DSW is planning to provide advocacy trainings to about a dozen organizations and award subgrants to up to four organizations per country. DSW will provide ongoing mentoring support and other technical assistance to enable the selected subgrantees to implement locally driven advocacy strategies.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
This core grant to Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW) would support the organization to ensure that the most vulnerable populations in developing countries have access to high-quality sexual and reproductive health information and services. DSW’s advocacy strategies include strengthening the evidence base for prioritizing sexual and reproductive health and rights, influencing political and social leaders, and building capacity of partner organizations. DSW has traditionally targeted the German government and the European Union with its advocacy, but intends to strengthen the advocacy capacity of its country offices in East Africa. A separate grant on this docket recommends direct support to these country offices.
