Overview
Debunk Media is a Kenyan nonpartisan media platform that uses interactive storytelling to engage readers on issues of public interest. In a context of voter apathy, heightened polarization, and democratic disillusionment, Debunk Media will launch a two-year project to reclaim trust in independent journalism and increase the civic engagement of its audience. Through their coverage of “people, politics, and pop culture,” Debunk Media will construct respectful spaces where readers discuss issues of public interest and engage directly with public officials. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance)

for a digital media project to increase civic engagement in Kenya
Debunk Media is a Kenyan nonpartisan media platform that uses interactive storytelling to engage readers on issues of public interest. Developed within a context of voter apathy, heightened polarization, and democratic disillusionment, Debunk Media considers the last line of defense for democracy and good governance to be around democratizing the interrogation of news content as a public good. In this vein, Debunk Media will launch its flagship free-to-read weekly digital newspaper, Debunk Weekend, which will support Kenya's alternative journalism field, and intends to focus on addressing the questions around the growing erosion of democracy and sound governance. Through their coverage of “people, politics, and pop culture,” Debunk Media will provide respectful spaces where readers discuss and interrogate issues of public interest and engage directly with public officials.
