Overview
In recognition of the Hewlett Foundation’s 50th anniversary, the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative supports the creation and premiere of 50 exceptional works of performing arts. This grant will support Dance Brigade, better known as Dance Mission Theater, in commissioning, developing, and presenting “Raíces et Révolution,” a dance concert by choreographer and dancer Susana Arenas Pedroso. The lead artist will collaborate with the Guinean arts organization Duniya Dance and Drum Company to create a work of dance and music that explores the cultural and political relationship between Cuba and Guinea.
