Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization and global community dedicated to supporting an open and accessible Internet that is enriched with free knowledge and creative resources for people around the world to use, share, and cultivate. This grant will provide general operating support for Creative Commons as it works toward its bold vision over the next several years. The work of Creative Commons furthers the transparency goals of the Foundation in general and provides a core infrastructure for the OER movement.
for support of the Creative Commons global affiliate network
Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools, supported by a network of affiliate chapters in 85 countries. The organization will develop and implement a global affiliate network strategy to support its chapters to work in open education, open policy, and open access research. A more robust infrastructure for OER licensure will help practitioners and policymakers solve major challenges in education around the world.
for the work of the Open Policy Network
Creative Commons provides the foundation for Open Educational Resources through its free, machine-readable copyright licenses and has given tremendous strength to the "open" movement by advocating for greater use of such licenses. This grant would enable Creative Commons to continue to advance the cause of openness through the Open Policy Network, which seeks to encourage and support open policy opportunities with the information and resources needed to turn them into reality. The proposal will help further the creation, adoption, and implementation of open policies and practices in countries around the world.
