Grants to this Grantee
for work on global industrial decarbonization
This grant supports a significant expansion of ClimateWorks’ global industrial sector strategy. The industrial sector is responsible for between a quarter and a third of global greenhouse gas emissions. This effort will focus on the top emitting industries, including steel, concrete, and chemicals, in the United States, the European Union, China, and India. ClimateWorks promotes the creation of markets for low-embodied emissions commodity materials; provides technical support and capacity building for governments, NGOs, and think tanks; and trains people to be effective advocates for low-emissions products. (Substrategy: Industry)
for the creation of a Latin America Regional Climate Foundation
The ClimateWorks Foundation, in consortium with the Oak Foundation and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, has launched the Latin America Regional Climate Foundation with strategies to reduce emissions, primarily from the power and transportation sectors. We recommend renewing this grant to ClimateWorks to ensure that the climate mitigation work in Latin America is leveraged and coordinated with current efforts of the Hewlett’s Clean Transportation Portfolio to reduce conventional pollutants in Brazil and Mexico.
for creating a Latin America Regional Climate Foundation
The ClimateWorks Foundation, in consortium with the Oak Foundation and the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, is working to launch a Latin America Regional Climate Foundation that would seek opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and local air pollutants, primarily from the power and transportation sectors. We recommend this grant to ClimateWorks to ensure that the climate mitigation work in Latin America is leveraged and coordinated with current efforts of the Hewlett’s Clean Transportation Portfolio to reduce conventional pollutants in Brazil and Mexico.
