Overview
Clean Energy Works was formed as one of the first winners of the Climate Breakthrough Project. The organization aims to translate a financing method commonly employed by electric utilities to promote energy efficiency to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles. The financing concept, called Pay As You Save (PAYS), was endorsed by the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance in 2018. Clean Energy Works is working to implement the PAYS model to help cities procure electric buses. Within three years, the organization plans to mobilize $1 billion for 4,000 electric buses in 50 cities.
