Overview
The Citizen Advocacy Center (CAC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, community-based legal organization with a mission “to build democracy for the 21st century by strengthening the citizenry’s capacities, resources, and institutions for self-governance.” CAC advances its mission through a Community Lawyer model that builds public capacity by providing education, training, and resources so community members can effectively self-advocate. This grant supports the Community Lawyer Replication Project which seeks to add an entirely new model of lawyering to the national landscape that complements existing legal resources available to citizens who face daunting hurdles when interacting with powerful entities that stand in the way of a more just society.
