Overview
In recognition of the Hewlett Foundation’s 50th anniversary, the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative supports the creation and premiere of 50 exceptional works of performing arts. This grant will support Circo Zero in developing and presenting "Try," a dance performance by choreographer Ishmael Houston-Jones. "Try" will mobilize experimental, improvised dance to create a queer space where race and masculinity will be interrogated and destabilized, and new forms of solidarity, collaboration, and desire will emerge.
