Chinese Cultural Productions, a dance ensemble created by choreographer Lily Cai and composer Gang Situ, originates risk-taking contemporary art that is firmly rooted in Chinese cultural traditions and reflects the East-meets-West aspect of Chinese American life in San Francisco. Reaching more than 12,000 audience members annually, the organization produces an annual home season and conducts national tours. Through its arts education program in public schools with high populations of Chinese American students, the ensemble provides performance demonstrations of Chinese music and culture for more than 4,000 San Francisco youth. With a new studio in the city’s South of Market neighborhood, Chinese Cultural Productions has launched a dance academy and plans to perform intimate works in the space.
