Overview
San Francisco Chanticleer is a full-time, all-male professional vocal ensemble. The Grammy Award-winning ensemble will celebrate its 39th season in 2016-17, performing 52 concerts in 24 states, 27 in the San Francisco Bay Area, along with a 15-concert tour of Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Russia. Chanticleer is known around the world as "an orchestra of voices" for the seamless blend of its 12 male vocalists ranging from soprano to bass, and its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz and popular genres, as well as contemporary composition. A grant to Chanticleer will support its commissioning program, live recordings, and upcoming 40th anniversary season.

Chanticleer is an acclaimed 12-man professional vocal ensemble that performs diverse historic and contemporary choral music, provides choral music education, and creates new choral work. The group performs locally, and tours nationally and internationally, reaching more than 52,000 in a typical year. Support for Chanticleer advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
for general operating support
San Francisco Chanticleer is a full-time, professional all-male vocal ensemble. The Grammy-winning a cappella group performs a varied repertoire that encompasses Gregorian chant, jazz, new music, spirituals, folk, and choral classics, reaching worldwide audiences of more than 60,000 people each year. Locally, Chanticleer’s education programs serve more than 4,000 Bay Area youth through in-school and out-of-school programs and the Chanticleer Youth Choral Festival. Continued support would allow Chanticleer to maintain its core artistic programs (which include extensive touring), to further develop its educational programming, and to continue to refine its business model.
