Grants to this Grantee
for advancing air quality policies and clean fuels technologies in Mexico's transportation sector
The Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental (CEMDA) advocates for policies to reduce vehicle pollution and increase the use of clean fuels. The goal of this renewal grant is to strengthen the capacity of CEMDA’s air quality and clean transportation team to synchronize Mexico’s heavy- and light-duty vehicle emissions standards with those of the United States and to secure Mexico’s commitment to distribute ultra-low sulfur fuels. By reducing air pollution from the transportation sector, such policies would prevent approximately 14,000 deaths annually.
for the Air Quality: Clean Fuels and Vehicles Program
The Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental promotes the public’s right to a healthy environment and environmental protection in Mexico. The goals of this grant are to (1) promote the adoption of an updated heavy duty diesel vehicle emissions control standard and an updated light duty diesel vehicle emissions standard, (2) promote the distribution of ultra low sulfur diesel in the entire country by 2014, and (3) develop a clean air plan for Mexico for the next ten years.
