Overview
The Center for Engaged Scholarship’s mission is to contribute to social and environmental justice by mobilizing the ideas and energies of engaged scholars. They believe that Ph.D. candidates have lifelong potential to influence our society to be more democratic; more equal in terms of income, race, gender, sexual preference; and more environmentally sustainable. The center provides fellowships to increase the number of Ph.D. students on a classical academic track who use the tools of social science to promote positive social change. To date, the Center for Engaged Scholarship has supported 32 dissertation students.
