Overview
The Center for American Progress and the American Enterprise Institute are leading Washington think tanks working at the intersection of politics and policy. This grant would allow experts in demography and public opinion at both institutions to jointly assess likely trends and patterns of diversity in the U.S. population over the next several decades. These projections will have major implications for our political system and the polarization that is now so readily observable within it. Having experts from these two different institutions publicly project, discuss, and debate our nation’s evolving demographics will help illuminate the path forward—and pitfalls to avoid—for political leaders and policy advocates alike.

Grants to this Grantee
for the Tackling Climate Change and Environmental Injustice program
The Center for American Progress is an independent, nonpartisan policy institute dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans. The center’s climate program pursues action that meets the urgency of the climate crisis, creates good-quality jobs, benefits disadvantaged communities, and restores U.S. credibility on the global stage. The center plays an important role in building consensus around priorities for decarbonization among environmental, environmental justice, and labor organizations. (Substrategy: U.S. National Policy)
for the Women’s Health and Rights program
This grant will support the Center for American Progress to continue its work to protect and advance reproductive health and rights through research and policy ideas that establish a framework for public debate. The program integrates disciplines such as economics, health care, and gender and reaches a broad audience of advocates, policymakers, and the public through earned media, rapid response, editorial board outreach, op-ed placements, and broadcast media. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
for the Public Lands Program
The Center for American Progress is an independent, nonpartisan policy institute dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans through advancing bold progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action. This grant supports its efforts to ensure that America’s public lands, waters, and wildlife are protected for everyone to experience and explore; that America’s natural resources are developed wisely, safely, and with a fair return to taxpayers; and that public lands are being managed for sustainable economic growth — from creating jobs in recreation and clean energy industries to delivering the quality of life that attracts employees and businesses to Western communities. (Substrategy: Landscape-Scale Connectivity)
