Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Carbon180 works to design and champion equitable, science-based policies that bring carbon removal solutions to gigaton scale. Founded in 2015, in the earliest days of carbon removal technological and policy innovation, Carbon180’s early work advanced federal investments in carbon removal, mentored leaders who are now running major companies, and convened leading research universities and national labs through the New Carbon Economy Consortium. Today, Carbon180 educates communities, supports localized efforts to share projects, and shapes the framework that policymakers use to engage with carbon removal. Carbon180 is also engaging with the Regional Direct Air Capture Hubs — funded through the infrastructure bill — which are the first megaton-scale deployment of carbon dioxide removal in the world, representing a potentially 400-fold increase in global direct air capture capacity. (Substrategy: U.S. National Policy)
for the development of the global carbon removal procurement fund
Carbon180 works to scale responsible and equitable carbon dioxide removal techniques. Through this grant, Carbon180 will conduct an analysis to inform the development of a new strategy designed to catalyze large-scale purchasing of carbon removal services to remediate legacy carbon dioxide emissions. (Substrategy: Carbon Negative)
