Overview
The Campaign Finance Institute’s mission is to support democracy through nonpartisan, objective and timely research about money in politics, geared to the needs of policy-makers and to scholars. Its nonpartisan board includes scholars and past public officials, and CFI's products range from peer reviewed publications and reports, to briefings, conferences, and web-based tools. CFI materials are made available freely for public use. During this grant period, CFI will continue to produce regular reports on federal and state campaign financing and will use its new historical database of state laws to expand pioneering research on small donors, public financing and tax credits, political parties, and non-party independent spending.

The Campaign Finance Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization recognized as the leading think tank focused on campaign finance reform issues. In this capacity, it provides timely analysis of how candidates, parties, and interest groups are raising money; develops and assesses reform proposals; and shares its findings and recommendations with the academic and policy reform communities. Over the next two years, the Institute will assess a number of challenges arising in the rapidly evolving world of campaign finance, as well as policy options for responding to them. This grant would equip the Institute to carry out its ambitious plans and to respond to new opportunities as they arise.
