Overview
The California Alliance for Arts Education promotes, supports, and advocates for visual and performing arts education for preschool through post-secondary students in California schools. It is the fiscal sponsor of Create CA, a statewide coalition to restore arts education in California’s schools that is guided by an elected leadership council representing both the education and arts education sectors in California. Create CA supports the visibility and promotion of arts education in California through statewide and regional convenings, dissemination of data on arts education access, and a statewide public will campaign for arts education. This grant to the California Alliance for Arts Education, for adaptation planning and implementation for Create CA, advances the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy through its Policy and Advocacy substrategy.

Create CA convenes and provides training and resources for more than 100,000 artists, K-12 teachers, parents, and members of state and local education departments and PTAs each year. This grant to Create CA advances the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy through its Policy and Advocacy substrategy.

Create CA is the only statewide organization dedicated to promoting, supporting, and advocating for visual and performing arts education for preschool through post-secondary students in California’s public school system. Through a leadership council, Create CA convenes key stakeholders to support statewide efforts to increase arts education in the public school system. Its training, online resources, consulting, and leadership on the Arts Education Data Project support 100,000 artists, K-12 teachers, parents, and educators and advocates in their school-based advocacy efforts. This grant to Create CA advances the Youth strategy, through the Policy and Advocacy substrategy, and will expand the organization’s existing Arts Now advocate training program to build the advocacy skills and capacity of youth-serving arts education organizations.
