California Academy of Sciences

The California Academy of Sciences is eager to make its education resources accessible to all. In collaboration with the Academy, the Inclusive Design Research Centre will lead a workshop with experts in science education and inclusive design to share approaches for developing and refining open educational resources to ensure equity and accessibility. Specific topics will include designing inclusive communications, creating accessible multimedia, and evaluating accessibility. The Academy will implement lessons learned during the workshop into its broad suite of online education materials.

This grant would fund a climate change study of the lands in and around Yellowstone National Park by the California Academy of Sciences Museum. The study will provide analyses of climate change impacts specific enough to prioritize land acquisition and management policies designed to offset the detrimental effects on plants and animals. This grant is part of a suite of activities designed to produce a new strategic plan for Greater Yellowstone Coalition, and Hewlett Foundation grantee.

The California Academy of Sciences (Cal Academy) is a renowned scientific and educational institution dedicated to exploring, explaining, and sustaining life on Earth. Based in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, it’s the only place in the world to house an aquarium, planetarium, and natural history museum, as well as innovative programs in scientific research and education all under one living roof. This grant is for Academy for All – a low cost and free ticketing and access program.
