Overview
Bread and Roses brings entertainment to isolated and incarcerated audiences with limited or no access to music and the performing arts. The organization produces more than 600 free live performances annually for 28,000 Bay Area children, teens, adults, and elders. Drawing on a diverse roster of 1,300 professional and amateur performing artists, Bread and Roses reaches more than 120 institutional facilities, such as addiction rehabilitation centers, homeless shelters, schools for the developmentally disabled, youth detention facilities, county jails, and state prisons. A renewal grant to Bread and Roses would enable the organization to continue to reach those members of our communities who rarely experience the benefit of a live arts event.
