Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Brava! for Women in the Arts produces, presents, and cultivates the artistic development and creative expression of women, people of color, youth, LGBTQIA, and other underrepresented voices. The San Francisco organization offers an eclectic annual season of eight projects, an artist residency program, affordable space rentals for artistic development and community groups, and arts education and job training programs for youth. Each year, Brava reaches more than 30,000 audience members. This grant to Brava advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
for Loco Bloco
Brava! for Women in the Arts produces, presents, and cultivates the artistic development and creative expression of women, people of color, youth, LGBTQIA, and other underrepresented voices. The Loco Bloco artistic programs are rooted in the culture, music, theater, and dance of Afro Latino traditions. Each year, more than 400 youth are served in the program’s classes and workshops, and youth perform before tens of thousands of people in large-scale community events in San Francisco’s Mission District, including Carnaval and the Day of the Dead procession. Support for Brava’s Loco Bloco program advances the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy through the Program Delivery substrategy.
