Overview
Got Your 6 is a collaborative campaign to unite the entertainment industry with top veteran-focused nonprofit organizations. The goal is to bridge the civilian-military divide so that veterans are seen as assets, empowered to lead in their communities. A 2011 Pew study found that "84 percent of post-9/11 veterans say the public does not understand…those in the military or their families." The public agrees, by a majority of 71 percent. This grant would support Got Your 6, the National Conference on Citizenship, and Tufts University’s Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning & Engagement in creating a Civic Health Index for Veterans, to help civilians better understand how to engage veterans to help improve and strengthen their communities.
