The Aspen Global Change Institute (The Institute) plans, conducts, documents, and reports on various workshops it convenes with scientific leaders from around the world that work on global climate change issues. The Institute convenes two to five week-long sessions every year. These highly technical meetings generally focus on making a breakthrough on a given technological or scientific challenge associated with global warming. The Institute's tries to leverage existing work by working with top researchers fro m universities, government labs and the private sector. Its program seeks out participants that are leaders in their field and often operate at the interface of science and policy, and the Institute encourages its alumni to become ambassadors in the science/policy arena.
