Overview
The Center is a critical legal partner of both Western Resource Advocates and the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP), two longtime Foundation grantees. It provides legal representation to both organizations at regulatory proceedings before the Arizona Corporation Commission, the key state agency for regulation of the states investor-owned public utilities. Because the Commissions support for clean energy policies deteriorated after the November elections changed its makeup, Western Resource Advocates and SWEEP anticipate the need of the Centers legal counsel during critical proceedings in 2013 related to defending the renewable energy standard, the energy efficiency standard, and incentives for solar energy.

for the Arizona Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program
The Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest is a critical legal partner to both the Western Resource Advocates and the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project, two long-time Foundation grantees. The Center provides legal representation to both organizations at regulatory proceedings before the Arizona Corporation Commission, the key state agency for regulation of the states investor-owned public utilities. Western Resource Advocates anticipates several critical proceedings in 2012 related to the upcoming integrated resource planning process of Arizona Public Service Company, the states largest utility. These proceedings will cover a variety of critical issues, including renewable power procurement and coal plant retirements. In addition, the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project anticipates several energy efficiency related matters to come before the Commission, mostly associated with implementing new efficiency rules adopted in 2010. These matters are likely to require legal counsel through the Center.
