Overview
Equity Unbound is a curriculum that creates equity-focused, open, connected, intercultural learning experiences across classes, countries, and contexts. This grant will support a global virtual workshop series to explore strategies to create decolonial and anti-racist practices in academia. The Inclusive Academia team will summarize the findings and identify viable corrective actions that emerge from the discussion and the resources shared in collaborative sessions. The output of this experience will provide concrete steps to be taken at multiple levels across the academy to enable decolonial anti-racist learning and scholarship, enriching both and promoting social justice in the open education field. Grants to this Grantee
for the Political Economy of the Global South Conference and activities
Based at the American University in Cairo, Pathways from Neoliberalism: Voices from the Middle East and North Africa will host the first Political Economy of the Global South Conference. The conference aims to bring together two areas that have suffered from acute academic neglect, namely political economy as an approach and the Global South as a subject matter.
for the Cairo Center for Learning and Excellence on Adaptation and Resilience
This grant supports the Cairo Center for Learning and Excellence on Adaptation and Resilience at American University in Cairo. Established after the U.N. Climate Convention Conference of the Parties in Sharm el-Sheikh in 2022, which increased the global focus on both climate adaptation and on the African continent, the center will address three sectors most affected by climate change: water resources, agriculture and food security, and health. It will help train and support a cadre of practitioners and leaders in Africa focused on climate adaptation and resilience. (Substrategy: Multilateral)
for support of Equity Unbound
Equity Unbound, co-facilitated by American University in Cairo, is an emergent, collaborative community that creates equity-focused, open, connected, intercultural learning experiences across countries and contexts. This grant will support the expansion and open dissemination of their global equity work, which is coordinated via a year-round roster of established professional activities and offerings. Their annual MYFest (Mid-Year Festival) virtual learning experience will engage higher education and K-12 educators, educational developers, and librarians in exploring open educational practices, open publishing, community building, and socially just education.
