Overview
This grant will enable the Program in Gender Analysis in Economics at American University to organize a planning workshop to develop a full proposal on gender-sensitive macroeconomic models for policy. The workshop will bring together approximately 20 scholars to produce a research plan for gender-aware macroeconomic models, which will incorporate gendered behavior into economic decision making and the care economy. A small group of workshop participants will continue the work to develop a research project proposal by spring 2017. The resulting proposal will be shared with potential funders to secure support for the project.

Grants to this Grantee
for reducing copyright barriers to OER creation
Through the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property at American University, this grant will support the OER community through technical assistance on copyright, Creative Commons licensing, and fair use, working to strengthen and complement existing projects while mapping what additional legal resources are needed to enable teaching practices focused on personalization, open pedagogy, and universal design. This helps teachers understand how to take advantage of the flexibility of OER, facilitates a diverse ecosystem of OER, and supports implementation at a system level. (Substrategy: Field Building)
for support of the Accountability Research Center
The Accountability Research Center is part of American University’s School of International Service. The center bridges research and frontline perspectives in the Global South to learn from ideas, institutions, and actors that advance strategies to improve public accountability. During this grant period, they will work with partners to contribute to global thinking that informs strategies to bolster transparency, participation, and accountability. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance)
for expanding Medicaid coverage for abortion
This grant will support the Abortion Information Hub, a new project based at American University's Center on Health, Risk, and Society. The U.S. abortion landscape is undergoing radical restructuring due to the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade and the elimination of constitutional legal protection for abortion. The Abortion Information Hub will facilitate greater access to information and communication in order to make more cohesive tactical and strategic decisions within the reproductive health, rights, and justice movement. The hub will compile and curate information and facilitate a space for the movement to surface bold and innovative ideas on policy and service delivery. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
