The California Collaborative on District Reform (CCDR), housed at and staffed by the American Institutes for Research, brings together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, funders, advocates, and support providers to solve problems of educational practice at district and state levels. With this grant, CCDR will support effective implementation, sustainability, and refinement of California’s school accountability system. It will do so by contributing to the knowledge base about local practices and working with districts to improve tools and processes used for strategic planning and budgeting.

Grants to this Grantee
for identification of deeper learning schools and steps needed to scale deeper learning models
American Institutes for Research is a leading research firm that seeks to produce improvements in education, health, and the workforce by generating evidence to inform public understanding and policymaking. The firm proposes to continue the analyses conducted for the "Study of Deeper Learning: Opportunities and Outcomes"; it will begin with a planning phase to determine how to update analyses of high school graduation rates and postsecondary outcomes, of the ways in which these outcomes are associated with the development of deeper learning competencies, and of factors that facilitate or challenge implementation and sustainability. This study supports the program’s goal to have evidence-based exemplars of deeper learning schools.
