Overview
Led by an active, world-renowned master choreographer, LINES Ballet produces innovative original works rooted in classical ballet pointe. Its Dance Center is one of the largest dance facilities on the West Coast, offering more than eighty open classes to adults and teenagers. In fall 2006, the company successfully embarked on a partnership with the Dominican University of California, inaugurating the LINES Ballet/Dominican BFA program in dance.

Alonzo King LINES Ballet is a contemporary ballet company that nurtures artistry and the development of creative expression in dance. Each year, it performs for more than 50,000 people worldwide through two home seasons in San Francisco and global tours. In addition, LINES Ballet provides dance education and community programs at its Dance Center in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood and through partnerships with education and social service organizations. This grant to LINES Ballet advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy, which helps communities discover, develop, and experience artistic and cultural practices that provide meaning, inspiration, and joy.

Alonzo King LINES Ballet is recognized internationally for its signature contemporary dance vocabulary rooted in classical ballet. Each year, it performs for more than 50,000 people in the United States and abroad, including two seasons in San Francisco. In addition, LINES Ballet provides more than 75 weekly classes at its Dance Center in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood, and a suite of other education and community programs that reach more than 5,500 people each year.
