The Alliance for Excellent Education encourages policies supporting high school reform and increased student achievement and attainment, particularly through an emphasis on deeper learning, digital learning, and the Common Core State Standards. The Alliance will help education leaders recognize, reflect, and act on how district-level implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) can promote deeper learning student outcomes. A convening for 10 states will inform both state and local leaders as they develop district ESSA plans to guide school improvement interventions.

The Alliance for Excellent Education encourages policies supporting high school reform and increased student achievement and attainment, particularly through an emphasis on deeper learning, digital learning, and the Common Core State Standards. The group advances federal and state reforms that encourage the widespread adoption of deeper learning competencies; strengthen understanding of deeper learning among policymakers and the public; and foster collaboration among advocates. This work promotes a policy environment that offers both support and accountability to help students graduate from high school with the knowledge, skills, and academic mindsets necessary for success in lifelong education, work, and citizenship.
