Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) is a pan-African nonprofit research and policy institute that works to bridge the gaps between research, policy, and practice in Africa. AFIDEP supports governments to consistently use robust evidence to inform policy formulation, resource allocation, and program implementation to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and other national development goals. AFIDEP will strengthen institutional systems that facilitate evidence-informed decision making (EIDM); contribute to and expand the EIDM community of practice; generate and translate evidence to inform action on the SDGs; share best practices in promoting evidence use; and to internally strengthen institutional systems and processes to deliver its mandate. (Strategy: Evidence-Informed Policymaking)
for support of WEE macro work expansion
As a pan-African research and policy organization, the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) promotes and enables the consistent use of evidence in policy, program, and investment decisions in Africa. Through its emerging Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) program, AFIDEP aims to stimulate and sustain structural and systemic change in macroeconomic policy, investments, and programming that promote socioeconomic gender equity. This planning grant will enable AFIDEP to undertake a landscaping study of the WEE macro field in Africa through consultations with stakeholders across the region, identify current gaps in policy and evidence, and understand how their evidence-driven advocacy can contribute to gender-responsive macroeconomic policies in the region. (Strategy: International Women's Economic Empowerment)
for AFIDEP’s strategic plan refresher workshop
The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) is a pan-African non-profit research and policy institute that seeks to contribute to sustained and equitable development in Africa by bridging the gaps between research, policy, and practice. AFIDEP promotes and supports the use of credible evidence (including research, Monitoring and Evaluation, budget, and other routine data from government systems) in policy and program decisions and in service provision to track performance to accelerate the realization of Agenda 2063 and the SDGs. Over the last two years, the organization has experienced significant growth in the size of programs, impact, and staff (80% of the current staff joined the organization between 2020 and 2022). In the context of this significant institutional growth, this Organizational Effectiveness grant will support the organization to hold an institutional-wide strategy refresher and a team-building and leadership retreat in Malawi.
