Overview
The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) provides research, policy advice, and capacity enhancements that African governments can use to transform their economies with the aim of reducing poverty and improving living standards for their citizens. ACET conducts economic analysis and research that provides practical understanding of economic transformation, and engages African policymakers to incorporate drivers of transformation into national strategies and plans. It also supports governments in strengthening the planning and finance institutions necessary to implement these strategies. ACET advances these activities both independently and through its Pan-African Coalition for Transformation that brings together scholars, governments, and the private sector from across Africa.

for support of leadership transition and wellness
This organizational effectiveness grant will support African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) in sustaining institutional stability in light of its recent leadership succession. Specifically, the funding will allow ACET to strengthen governance, manage its executive leadership transition, and improve staff wellness. These institutional strengthening efforts will contribute to ACET’s longstanding leadership in supporting sustainable and resilient growth in Africa. There is also an allocation in this grant for wellness in furtherance of the organization’s charitable purpose. (Strategy: Women’s Economic Empowerment)
for support to strengthen ACET's Gender Equality Program
As a pan-African economic policy institute, the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) supports sustainable and resilient growth in Africa. Through its Gender Equality Program, ACET aims to embed a gender-responsive lens in economic policy formulation. Over the next few years, the Gender Equality Program will develop the African Transformation Report on Gender Equality and support African governments in designing gender-responsive macroeconomic policies and implementation models. This flexible program grant will enable ACET to deepen these focal areas, including sustained, meaningful engagement with policy actors and civil society. for establishing a unit to advise on extractive resource issues
ACET is an African think tank that receives core support from the Global Development Program for its Africa-wide policy analysis and advisory activities. This grant would help ACET launch its special division focused on extractive resources: the Extractive Resources Facility. Conceived in collaboration with Hewlett Foundation grantee Revenue Watch Institute and Norway’s Oil for Development program, the Facility will build capacity for African governments to manage their natural resource wealth for the maximum public benefit by providing expert advice and assistance in developing, negotiating, and administering agreements with petroleum and mineral companies. Initial pilot activities in Liberia and Sierra Leone, which the Hewlett Foundation supported through a planning grant, are already under way, and ACET anticipates extending its services to Ghana within the next year.
