Grants to this Grantee
for support of Tennessee open education statewide initiative
Achieving the Dream is a partner and champion of hard-working leaders at more than 300 community colleges across the country. With this grant, Achieving the Dream will work in close partnership with the Tennessee Board of Regents and SRI Education to study how colleges take advantage of OER and OER-enabled instructional practices to transform teaching and learning. This study, the second of two phases, will document how professional development facilitates the use of OER-enabled teaching practices, examine the outcomes of students enrolled in OER courses, and offer insights into how the implementation of these practices can be organized at the state level. (Substrategy: Sustainable Systems)
for support of Tennessee open education statewide initiative
Achieving the Dream is the leading college network championing evidence-based institutional transformation to help community colleges improve outcomes for low-income students and students of color who dream of achieving their goals for academic success and economic opportunity. With this grant, Achieving the Dream will work in close partnership with the Tennessee Board of Regents and SRI Education to study how colleges take advantage of OER and OER-enabled instructional practices to transform teaching and learning. This research will inform how faculty incorporate open educational resources and practices in their instruction and how students experience these courses. (Substrategy: Sustainable Systems)
for the ZTC-Degree Initiative
Achieving the Dream, a network of more than 200 colleges in 35 states, works to help some 4 million students complete their degrees and thus have a better chance of realizing greater economic opportunity. The network will serve as the intermediary for the ZTC-Degree Initiative by making grants to several community colleges and supporting efforts to successfully implement ZTC degrees. Development of degree pathways that require no textbook costs for students, especially at institutions serving students from disadvantaged populations, will facilitate more mainstream adoption of OER in postsecondary institutions.
