Overview
Achieve, the managing partner for one of the two state assessment consortia, received a $350,000 Foundation grant in March to develop prototypes of tests that measure deeper learning. Achieve now seeks support for state and national communications teams to educate parents, educators, the media, and the public about the benefits of replacing current testing systems with this next generation of assessments.

for development of tools and capacity to undertake external reviews of state assessments
Achieve is an independent, nonpartisan education reform organization dedicated to working with states to raise academic standards and graduation requirements, improve assessments, and strengthen accountability. States adopting new college- and career-ready assessments of student achievement will work voluntarily with Achieve to "test the test" by gauging alignment to state standards, quality of content, and depth of cognitive demand. Ensuring that measurement of deeper learning outcomes is accurate, useful, and widespread will require states to adopt high-quality assessment systems rather than choose them primarily on the basis of price or test duration.
