Abhinaya Dance Company of San Jose

Abhinaya Dance Company teaches and performs Bharatanatyam, the traditional practice of classical South Indian dance, and builds community among Indian American residents. The organization provides an intensive year-round training program for more than 100 youth and young women, and offers a career development program for emerging dance teachers and choreographers. Its professional dance company reaches more than 15,000 people through its concert season and performances at regional venues, community sites, and local schools in the South Bay. This grant to Abhinaya advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
