Overview
California Alliance of African American Educators (CAAAE) provides programs and services to students, families, and teachers in order to create culturally conscious African American students who are lifelong learners and critical thinkers. Their work creates a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies that improve the educational opportunities and achievement for African American students. Support from the Hewlett Foundation will allow CAAAE to focus on core communication and operational needs as well as strategic program work.

The California Alliance of African American Educators was established in 2001 to advocate for Black children who were being marginalized in their state. The group, which has now changed its name to A Black Education Network, has the vision to develop, support, and sustain a national network of schools, churches, nonprofit organizations, educators (broadly defined), researchers, parents, corporations, foundations, and others to serve thousands of students through Saturday STEM academies and related education and cultural programs and activities to ensure that Black students reach their full potential.
