Overview
The California Alliance of African American Educators (CAAAE) was established in 2001 to advocate for black children who were being marginalized in their state. CAAAE, now doing business as A Black Education Network (ABEN), has the vision to develop, support, and sustain a national network of schools, churches, nonprofit organizations, educators (broadly defined), researchers, parents, corporations, foundations, and others to serve thousands of students through Saturday STEM academies and related education and cultural programs and activities to ensure that black students reach their full potential. This grant will support ABEN’s continued efforts.

The group, which has now changed its name to A Black Education Network, has the vision to develop, support, and sustain a national network of schools, churches, nonprofit organizations, educators (broadly defined), researchers, parents, corporations, foundations, and others to serve thousands of students through Saturday STEM academies and related education and cultural programs and activities to ensure that Black students reach their full potential. for sponsorship of exploring teaching practices that successfully reach African American students  
The mission of the California Alliance of African American Educators is to provide programs and services to students, families, and teachers in order to create culturally conscious African American students who are lifelong learners and critical thinkers. This sponsorship grant will support three regional conferences focused on "Pedagogies and Practices for Successfully Reaching African American Students" that will be held in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Chicago during 2018.
