National Center on Education and the Economy

The National Center for Education and the Economy (NCEE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting education leaders and practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and community stakeholders to study, design, and build equitable, high-performing, and cost-effective education and workforce development systems. NCEE works at the intersection of education and the economy. They help to anticipate the future and advance solutions for learning, work, and community, focused on supporting students furthest from opportunity. (Strategy: K-12 Teaching and Learning)

The National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) is an education nonprofit that studies and builds high-quality education systems. NCEE acquired Educurious, known for its work in project-based learning and its research-backed OER project-based learning curriculum platform, Sprocket. This grant will support Educurious in understanding how to support educators’ implementation and school systems’ sustainable scaling of project-based learning with Sprocket’s OER curriculum, online professional learning communities, and localized adaptations that unlock the power of using OER for locally relevant student learning.

The National Center on Education and the Economy researches the best international education practices and adapts them for use in the United States. In partnership with the Business Roundtable—a membership organization of leading U.S. companies—the center will co-manage a study that benchmarks the world’s top-performing education and training systems, identifying policies and practices necessary for the United States to meet and exceed these benchmarks and conveying recommendations to the business community and the American public. This study will support the evidence base for deeper learning by delineating the key attributes of high-performing international education systems and communicating the results to influential audiences.
