Overview
Los Angeles Unified School District is the second largest in the nation, enrolling more than 500,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The district’s mission is to embrace its diversity to educate Los Angeles’ youth, ensure academic achievement, and empower tomorrow’s leaders. LA Unified currently has 7,514 middle and high school students with zero to three years of enrollment in U.S. schools. These students must learn English and meet college readiness requirements to graduate from high school. The implementation of Internationals Network academies has transformed the district’s instructional practices to prepare newcomer students for these requirements. This grant will support the implementation of the instructional programs at these academies. (Strategy: K-12 Teaching and Learning)
