Overview
New America CA is a project of New America focused on issues of racial and economic equity. Its work illuminates structural and systemic barriers to equity, seeking to reform economic opportunity and reimagine capitalism such that financial resources — from work, to income, to the public safety net — meet the needs of residents in equitable ways. Based on the belief that successful narrative change shifts power through new portrayals of people, communities, and systems, New America CA produces written content and convenes public audiences so that authentic stories, ideas, needs, and perspectives can influence broader public will and social consciousness.

for the Better Life Lab’s entertainment-focused narrative and culture change initiative
The entertainment-focused narrative and culture change practice at New America’s Better Life Lab seeks to influence TV and film storytelling by sharing data and research that encourage creatives to tell stories about abortion, pregnancy, and parenting in the context of people’s full lives. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
for bridging open education and equity in pre-K-12 learning and teaching
New America is a nonpartisan think tank dedicated to renewing, reimagining, and realizing the promise of America in an era of rapid technological and social change. New America’s Education Policy program builds on existing efforts to elevate the importance of equity and inclusion and the role of high-quality open educational resources and practices in ensuring academic excellence and well-being for all students. This will be accomplished through research and policy analysis, case making, community building, and the development of open tools and prototypes that can be piloted in districts and communities.
