Overview
Generation Citizen (GC) is a non-profit working to ensure that every student in the United States receives an effective action civics education. In partnership with The Ford Foundation, in January 2014, GC will organize and host a convening of thought leaders, policy makers, funders and practitioners to focus on the role of education in improving and renewing our democracy. Through this conference, and the subsequent follow-up, GC will comprehensively explore the influence that current problems in our democracy, including political polarization, a changing media environment, and inequality, have had in K-12 education, and in turn, how young people can help tackle and improve these issues; questions of interest to both Education Program and the Madison initiative.
