Pathfinder International

For Executive Transition

Overview
Pathfinder International has recently experienced a significant change—Dan Pellegrom retired after twenty-six years as President, and Purnima Mane assumed leadership of the organization on February 1, 2012. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Mane oversees more than 850 staff around the world, an annual budget exceeding $100 million, and sexual and reproductive health programs in more than twenty developing countries. Funds would enable Pathfinder International to assess its internal organizational operations and structure as appropriate for the demands of the field and goals of the organization and provide executive coaching to Ms. Mane during her transition.

Grants to this Grantee
for increasing access to reproductive health in Côte d'Ivoire
This grant supports Pathfinder International’s program in Côte d’Ivoire, where Pathfinder has identified several areas for collaboration with the Ministry of Health to improve family planning service availability. This funding builds on four previous rounds of funding from the foundation that helped Pathfinder build a program in Côte d’Ivoire as its hub for operations in Francophone West Africa. Through community and youth mobilization and technical support to national partners, Pathfinder aims to increase availability of contraceptive methods and improve access to safe abortion and postabortion care, particularly in rolling out the government’s new free contraception policy. This grant for Pathfinder’s program in Côte d’Ivoire is aligned with the Global Reproductive Equity strategy goal that women and girls in Francophone West Africa are increasingly able to seek, access, and use comprehensive reproductive health care to further their health, well-being, and life aspirations.
