Overview
The University of California at Santa Cruz has been a crucial partner in the development and continuing impact of the Mexican Agricultural Subsidy Database (www.subsidiosalcampo.org.mx), in collaboration with Mexican civil society organizations. Using access to public information reforms as a tool to gather official government data on subsidy recipients and disseminating that information through a user-friendly online platform, this project has shed light on public spending on farm programs. A renewal would support new content for the website, focusing on highly opaque state-level agricultural programs.
