Grants to this Grantee
for support of the Women’s Economic Empowerment and Care (WE-Care) program
Oxfam is a global organization that fights inequality to end poverty and injustice. This grant to Oxfam America will support Oxfam’s implementation of the Women’s Economic Empowerment and Care (WE-Care) program in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, and support opportunities for influencing unpaid care and domestic work in regional and global spaces. The WE-Care program works to increase women’s and girls’ time and choice to participate in economic, political, and social life by transforming how unpaid care and domestic work is valued, shared, and invested in through supporting civil society and women’s rights organizations, educating men and boys and religious and cultural leaders, and conducting policy influencing. (Strategy: International Women’s Economic Empowerment)
for citizen participation and accountability in public financial management in Burkina Faso
Through this grant, Oxfam America and Oxfam Spain will support Oxfam Burkina Faso to strengthen the participation of women, men, youth, and local civil society and civic groups in the management of public finances. Oxfam Burkina Faso and its local partners will provide relevant information, technical support, and mechanisms for citizens to provide input and track the use of local development mining funds in several municipalities. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance)
for the development and implementation of an advocacy strategy on unpaid care and domestic work
Oxfam is a global movement of people creating lasting solutions to the social injustice of poverty and inequality. This grant to Oxfam America will support the Women’s Economic Empowerment and Care (WE-Care) program. WE-Care is Oxfam’s flagship initiative to increase women’s and girls’ time and choice to participate in social, economic, and political life by transforming how unpaid care and domestic work is valued, shared, and invested in. This grant will support advocacy for unpaid care and domestic work and undertake a collaborative co-creation process to design the next phase of the WE-Care program globally, regionally, and nationally in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
