Overview
For more than 80 years, Carmel Bach Festival has presented a series of summer concerts, recitals, master classes, lectures, and open rehearsals. The repertory features music from the Baroque period, and the work of composers influenced by Bach’s work. The organization’s community engagement and education programs expand the festival’s reach year-round through youth-centered family concerts, free community concerts, and K-12 residencies and music education. The community engagement and education programs are offered in Carmel and Monterey, and in nearby underserved cities including Salinas, Soledad, and Seaside.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Carmel Bach Festival celebrates the Baroque period and the works of J.S. Bach, engaging more than 17,000 audience members through concerts, recitals, lectures, films, open rehearsals, and vocal training sessions. Becoming increasingly multidisciplinary, the festival and the organization’s off-season programs seek to provide new points of entry for current and potential audiences, particularly in underserved areas such as Seaside and the Salinas Valley. With both new artistic and executive leadership, renewed support would help the organization implement its recently completed strategic plan, focusing on diversifying programs and community engagement as well as strengthening the board and infrastructure.
