Overview
Every summer for the past 80 years, Carmel Bach Festival presents a two-week series of concerts, recitals, master classes, lectures, and open rehearsals. The repertory features music from the Baroque period, and the work of many composers influenced by Bach’s work, including Handel, Mozart, and Beethoven. The organization’s community engagement and education programs expand the festival’s reach year-round through youth-centered family concerts, free community concerts throughout Monterey County, and K-12 residencies. A renewal grant will support building financial sustainability, expanding the youth education programming, and developing long-term strategies.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Carmel Bach Festival celebrates the Baroque period and the works of J.S. Bach, engaging more than 17,000 audience members through concerts, recitals, lectures, films, open rehearsals, and vocal training sessions. Becoming increasingly multidisciplinary, the festival and the organization’s off-season programs seek to provide new points of entry for current and potential audiences, particularly in underserved areas such as Seaside and the Salinas Valley. With both new artistic and executive leadership, renewed support would help the organization implement its recently completed strategic plan, focusing on diversifying programs and community engagement as well as strengthening the board and infrastructure.
