Overview
This grant to New America will support a one-day convening on December 9, 2016 to discuss encryption as a cybersecurity tool, the prospects for the future utility of the tool in light of technological advances and the future implications for privacy. The convening will be attended by approximately 30 experts from across the government, industry, academia and other stakeholder communities.

The entertainment-focused narrative and culture change practice at New America’s Better Life Lab seeks to influence TV and film storytelling by sharing data and research that encourage creatives to tell stories about abortion, pregnancy, and parenting in the context of people’s full lives. New America is a nonpartisan think tank dedicated to renewing, reimagining, and realizing the promise of America in an era of rapid technological and social change. New America’s Education Policy program builds on existing efforts to elevate the importance of equity and inclusion and the role of high-quality open educational resources and practices in ensuring academic excellence and well-being for all students. This will be accomplished through research and policy analysis, case making, community building, and the development of open tools and prototypes that can be piloted in districts and communities.
