Overview
The New America Foundation was founded in 1999 to "nurture a new generation of public intellectuals—scholars, policy experts, and journalists who could address major social, economic, and political challenges in ways that would engage the public at large—and to provide a set of blueprints for American renewal in an era of globalization and digitization." A grant for general operating support would allow New America Foundation to continue this work, while implementing a new initiative to "rethink the think tank"—expanding beyond Washington, D.C., to cities and states where much exciting new policy experimentation and progress is occurring.

The entertainment-focused narrative and culture change practice at New America’s Better Life Lab seeks to influence TV and film storytelling by sharing data and research that encourage creatives to tell stories about abortion, pregnancy, and parenting in the context of people’s full lives. for bridging open education and equity in pre-K-12 learning and teaching
New America is a nonpartisan think tank dedicated to renewing, reimagining, and realizing the promise of America in an era of rapid technological and social change. New America’s Education Policy program builds on existing efforts to elevate the importance of equity and inclusion and the role of high-quality open educational resources and practices in ensuring academic excellence and well-being for all students. This will be accomplished through research and policy analysis, case making, community building, and the development of open tools and prototypes that can be piloted in districts and communities.
